What is surrender according to Ellen White messages from God?
It is not a conclusive evidence that a man is a Christian because he manifests spiritual ecstasy under extraordinary circumstances. Holiness is not rapture: it is an entire surrender of the will to God; it is living by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God; it is doing the will of our heavenly Father; it is trusting God in trial, in darkness as well as in the light; it is walking by faith and not by sight; it is relying on God with unquestioning confidence, and resting in His love. {AA 51.2}
ROB: Surrender is a term to describe the process of the will, our trust from using the will and our walking of faith using our will.
Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
ROB: Here is the term "surrender or subdued" in the NT.
"Men must not forget that the God of heaven is a God of justice; with Him is no partiality, no hypocrisy. He will not serve with men’s selfishness, nor sanction their plans to rob one soul of his rights because they can press him inconsiderately, and make statements and plans that compel surrender, or leave him helpless.... {PM 133.2}
I again press home to you the necessity of closely reading the testimony sent to you, and of learning from the past not to take the same course in the future. Edson, your only safe course is to surrender your heart, your will, to God. Lt9-1866
ROB: The Ancient Hebrew pictures of the word "kabash" Notice how the messages from God via Ellen White a prophetess, show the word "press home" and "surrender" is perfectly in agreement with this Ancient Hebrew pictures of the word "surrender".
Dear readers I have to get a little excited. How uncanny a human, who never knew modern Hebrew or Ancient Hebrew, should write the exact same pictures as the Author also discovered since 2012, independently from Ellen White writings. This is fantastic to say the least !!!!
Kabash Strongs 3533 “The Palms at Home Pressed” meaning to subdue, or surrender, the idea is to use your palms of your hand to press unto the heavenly Home, the powers from the Heavenly Home.
"Palms at home pressed"
Insight "I find it strange in Church one Sabbath, the members were talking of the woman with the issue of blood, did not catch her act as an act of faith, and spoke of faith in a feeble way but never understood what faith was....It seems if you do not have experience, you do not see evidence and thus are blind to the evidence presented to you.
I spoke up telling them the woman was claiming a precious promise that the Messiah would come with healing in His wings (little blue ribbons on His garments). However the people listened but did not hear. Sad.
I experienced this once myself, Dr Livingstone wrote the term "Hebrew construct state" so being inexperienced I did not even see the words, until 10 years later, I read his email again and was shocked by this discovery of words. Once I was blind, now I see.
Once I was deaf, now I hear. This is the reason why we can talk to people offering advice, it cannot be translated to them as experience, so they remain in darkness and do not see the light, nor hear your words".
God will give both of you precious victories if you surrender yourselves wholly to Him and let His grace subdue your proud hearts. {3T 325.2}
To obey when it seems the hardest is true surrender to God. This will quicken your moral nature and subdue your pride. Learn to submit your will to God’s will, and you will be made meet for the inheritance of the saints in light.—Manuscript 12, 1888. {RC 108.4
O my Father, my Father! melt and subdue our hearts. We desire this morning to make an entire surrender to Thee; we desire to give up our will, our way, our course of action that has not been in harmony with the way and the will of God; we desire to accept the Lord’s way, the Lord’s will, the Lord’s counsel. Come, oh, come into the midst of us this very morning, and move upon hearts, young and old. In a special manner move upon the hearts of those who are handling gospel truths, that they may all be lighted up with the bright beams which Thou dost permit to shine upon Thy Word, in order that Thy instruction may come to the human understanding with the power and the Spirit of the living God. {GCB April 2, 1903, Art. C, par. 4}
ROB" Notice how Ellen White also writes using the word subdue, another English word meaning for Kabash, meaning to press home with palms.
Jesus said, “Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay
down My life, that I might take it again.” John 10:17. That is, “My
Father has so loved you that He even loves Me more for giving My
life to redeem you. In becoming your Substitute and Surety, by
surrendering My life, by taking your liabilities, your transgressions,
I am endeared to My Father; for by My sacrifice, God can be just,
and yet the Justifier of him who believeth in Jesus.” Steps to Christ p 9
The warfare against self is the greatest battle that was ever fought.
The yielding of self, surrendering all to the will of God, requires a
struggle; but the soul must submit to God before it can be renewed
in holiness.
The government of God is not, as Satan would make it appear,
founded upon a blind submission, an unreasoning control. It appeals
to the intellect and the conscience. “Come now, and let us reason
together” is the Creator’s invitation to the beings He has made.
Isaiah 1:18. God does not force the will of His creatures. page 29
ROB: Notice surrender is not some final holy step to Christ as many sermons have preached this over the years, but simply the process of the will seeking Jesus as a process of pressing home with your palms, ie during prayer we can surrender out will and by faith appropriate His powers as our own.
Many are inquiring, “How am I to make the surrender of myself
to God?” You desire to give yourself to Him, but you are weak in
moral power, in slavery to doubt, and controlled by the habits of your
life of sin. Your promises and resolutions are like ropes of sand. You
cannot control your thoughts, your impulses, your affections. The
knowledge of your broken promises and forfeited pledges weakens
your confidence in your own sincerity, and causes you to feel that
God cannot accept you; but you need not despair. What you need to
understand is the true force of the will. This is the governing power
in the nature of man, the power of decision, or of choice. Everything
depends on the right action of the will. page 32
Through the right exercise of the will, an entire change may
be made in your life. By yielding up your will to Christ, you ally
yourself with the power that is above all principalities and powers.
You will have strength from above to hold you steadfast, and thus
through constant surrender to God you will be enabled to live the
new life, even the life of faith. page 32
ROB Same idea as mentioned before
More than this, Christ changes the heart. He abides in your
heart by faith. You are to maintain this connection with Christ by
faith and the continual surrender of your will to Him; and so long
as you do this, He will work in you to will and to do according to
His good pleasure page 41
Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your
very first work. Let your prayer be, “Take me, O Lord, as wholly
Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service.
Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee.” This is a
daily matter. Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day.
Surrender all your plans to Him, to be carried out or given up as His
providence shall indicate. Thus day by day you may be giving your
life into the hands of God, and thus your life will be molded more
and more after the life of Christ page 46
ROB: Yes absolutely, faith is the process of your surrender to the powers of the words because you asked for this power flow to become appropriated to yourself as doing in the Lord, and the making of His fruits in you.
Shalom
