Collected Works of Watchman Nee, a Chinese preacher wrote:
Question: Someone asked, "Is it God’s commandment that we observe Sunday?" I cannot answer from the Bible. Please instruct me. (Yang, Anhwei)
(Collected Works of Watchman Nee, The (Set 1) Vol. 07: The Christian (5), Chapter 19, by Watchman Nee)
The author has permission to quote this material from ministrysamples.org/ under the terms of copyright fair use. I wish to make some comments on this wonderful Chinese preacher.
It is true Gentiles come to GOD, not experiencing salvation from the presentation of the gospel by Israel, who was a light unto the Gentiles. But what kind of gospel did Israel present unto the Gentiles? There were two covenants of the Lord shown to Israel, one called the Old Covenant and the other called the New Covenant, and both existed almost from the beginning of Adam. To make this theme clear, God allowed Eve to have twin boys, one called Abel was a example of the New Covenant, and Cain an example of those living under the Old Covenant. What is the different between these two covenants?
The difference is about the way humans do things supporting the Lord, regarding their sins, according to the laws of sin-offering.
If you are a Gentile not experiencing any of either of these Covenants, you are saved by the light you live up to, the Holy Spirit being witness with you via your conscience.
Ro 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
First it says here “God is no respecter of persons, either Jew or Gentile”. Many perish without law, but it is important to note, they perish, whether or not they understand the law that defines sinning. Their conscience bears witness instead of the law, so they still have an understanding to perish because of bad doings.
What is the purpose of law?
Ga 3:19 ¶ Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
It can be confusing which laws is referred to here?
(1) Moral laws that define sinning
(2) Sin-offering laws dealing with sinning
(3) Other ceremonial laws
(4) health laws
(5) Other miscellaneous laws
So the law’s only purpose is to define transgressions for both the Jew and the Gentile. For all perish because all have sinned:-
Ro 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
(Note: The Author carefully chooses the correct Hebrew words behind the Greek translations and makes sure “as it is written” is correct, as we understand the truth).
So if all mankind has sinned, how does GOD accept us?
Ac 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
So Jesus Christ is Salvation for mankind, and we enter into His salvation by faith.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
And so we come back to the two covenants introduced by Jesus, that is about this theme of salvation.
The Abel Covenant has faith on a sin-bearer who would accept you based on His merit.
The Cain Covenant has human doings: the sin-bearer accepts you based on both merits.
The Scriptures describe the old Cain covenant this way:-
Ge 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin-offering “Hebrew word chataah” lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. (Ancient Hebrew)
The Hebrew word “chataah” refers to sins confessed unto a sin-offering, usually a lamb that pointed to the sacrifice of sin-offerings by Jesus, the Sin-Bearer.
Cain was mixing this sin-offering using human merit not based on faith, but based on human works of merit. This kind of salvation we could call legalism, because it means nothing to the Lord, but was a system of salvation understood and used by Israel:-
Ex 19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do
And Paul says this about this kind of salvation system:-
Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Notice Paul says this Cain Old Covenant comes to an end to everyone that “believeth”, the Greek word here is "pisteuo” related to the Greek word faith “pistis”, and thus refers to the family of words in Hebrew about FAITH. So Jesus saves humans based on faith, under the Abel or New Covenant.
Watchman Nee says "After we believed in the Lord, the apostle said that "you are not under the law" (6:14). However, "whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law" (3:19). If those brothers who insist that we observe the Sabbath cannot prove to us that the Sabbath is not of the law, they cannot ask us to keep it.”
Ro 6:14 For “sin-offering” shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Rob: Correct, once Jesus takes away your sin-offering, ye are not under law, but under His grace.
Ro 3:19 ¶ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of “sin-offering”.
Rob” Correct, the law speaks to those who require atonement for their sin-offerings of guilt.
And this atonement is offered by Jesus, through faith in His sin-offering on your behalf.
Breaking the Sabbath is a transgression hence you require a sin-offering, but Watchman Nee does not understand how faith in Jesus our sin-offering also comes as a process?
Watchman Nee says: "All the arguments by these denominations of making Sunday the Sabbath Day have been totally refuted by the Seventh Day Adventists already. According to our study of the Bible, the Sabbath-keepers are wrong, and the Sunday-observers are also wrong. Both are wrong.”
Rob: “I can understand the legalism the Seventh Day Adventist might present to the world, for many use human merit to allow Jesus to save them. But this human doing of works under the law, means nothing in the eyes of the Lord. Watchmen Nee is correct in noticing this.
However Watchmen Nee does not understand how faith works and how faith is the foundation of salvation in Jesus, also comes from the law.
It is true the law was added to define transgressions.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under “sin-offering”, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that “have faith”.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Summary:
(1) Law was added to define sinning
(2) Jesus came to obey law to remain sinless, so He could become our sin-offering
(3) Our salvation is therefore based by faith on Jesus merit of sinlessness.
Watchmen Nee says: "They realize that in the age of grace there is no more need to keep the Sabbath. But while they observe the Lord’s Day, they are still being bound by the Sabbath regulations.
ROB: I would agree we are saved by faith in Jesus, because of His grace. So what happens to the law now, after I am saved by grace, does this mean all my doings cease? I am not required to love, to do faith, to walk, to talk, or do thing with my hands, or to eat, or to follow health, to breathe, or seek the sunshine, or drink, are all my doings cease because I am under the grace of Christ?
What does the Scripture say about my doings, now that I am under grace and faith in Christ?
Paul writes of some doings:
Ga 4:10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
Paul writes again
Ga 4:21 ¶ Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
Paul introduces a poetry picture concerning the function of law
Ga 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Ga 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
Notice the first of the royal law commandments tells us this:
Ex 20:1 ¶ And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.....
So now the we become children of the free, no longer bondage to sin.
Notice Paul says further
Ga 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
But what bondage is this we are freed from?
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? (KJV)
To make this clearer to readers, the Greek words reflect Hebrew words, the Hebrew word “truth” is a word meaning “truth-afirming-faith” ; it is a word associated with the family of FAITH words.
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the “truth-affirming faith”, and the “truth-affirming faith” shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? (Ancient Hebrew)
And Jesus answers:
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, “affirming faith”, “affirming faith”, I say unto you, Whosoever “doeth” “sin-offering” in is the servant of “sin-offering”.
So notice Jesus never abolishes any laws, because He comes to match the requirements of the law, condemning the sinning by his sinnings, to become the sin-offering Saviour, who atones for your sin-offerings, so in fact Jesus has to uphold the laws of sin-offerings, and these laws are still upheld. The only thing that has changed for the sinner, is the way to be saved from the condemnation of the law for sins, and the laws for sin-offerings, is through faith in the laws of Jesus.
What laws are these?
Joh 15:1 ¶ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Notice to be saved by Jesus you have to be grafted into His tree, so you become a branch, like Jesus was also termed a branch , you abide in His laws of sin-offering, and the laws of condemning sinners who sin, you abide in His laws of love, and the laws that define this doing of love. You are never independent as a saved person. You are yoked to Christ and you walk in His laws but under grace, through faith. And any doings you do are His powers of doings in you, so that your support of Jesus shows your love of gratitude to Him who is saving you daily, present continuous tense, for all eternity.
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
So what are these commandments Jesus asks us to keep? Commandments of faith. Where are these faith commandments, that I do them through Christ?
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
It is clear we are to be doing Jesus faith commandments. But where are these commandments of faith found?
Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
Notice the definition of FAITH as a commandment is given here in the NT, “whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my Name, the Father may give it to you”.
Paul says the same thing in His scroll for others:
Ga 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Let us explain Paul’s writing here about doing and law.
Circumcision is a human doing done to little male children at 8 days old. Females were never physically circumcised, only males.
Now Paul is saying all human doings mean nothing in the eyes of the Lord, but only faith doings. What is a faith doing regarding circumcision?
De 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
How can a person circumcise the foreskin of his heart and still live? Notice the person is stiff necked, a term meaning legalism.
Only divine power could circumcise the heart in a physical sense, assuming we understand this doing of God as physical?
De 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Here is the same idea. How can a person LOVE God with all thine heart, and soul? Not something a human of doings can do? What is LOVE to begin with? Only divine power could circumcise the heart in a physical sense to do LOVE, assuming we understand this doing of God as physical? And now readers are beginning to see such a divine act of GOD is indeed physical and real, but it must be spiritually understood, for it is not something human doings can do. Such must be done only through faith in a Divine Being.
How is this done? You simply ask of the Father.
Jer 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
I just love the way the King James version reads as it reads. Sometimes it is brilliant. Unless you ask the Father to circumcise your heart and allow you to LOVE as the Father love, His burning of love will burn you to death because of the evil of your doings.
I do not see any removal of the law that defines evil here. I do not see anything useful about human doings here. All I see is the supporter of GOD must come to Jesus through faith and grace, to be doing Divine Doings, not human doings.
How is this done? Through the second birth, which is based on faith.
Does Watchman Nee understand the process of faith in the supporter of GOD? I have yet to unfathom all his writings, but a supporter of God is “plucked as a firebrand from the fire” and is judged by the light his lives up to. So one is not expected to know all things, for we are ever learning, ever growing and ever experiencing His love.
Consider the most famous Bible verse of them all:
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever “beginning-faith” in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Ancient Hebrew)
We are saved entirely by faith, through grace in our Saviour.
Let us go through our Saviour’s salvation book and find how humans doings work under this process of faith in His Name.
In the OT because of different spelling the scroll of Hosea can also be spelt as Yasha, which is the Hebrew functional name given to Jesus who will “yasha” humans from sin (Matthew 1:20).
Towards the end of this wonderful scroll of Jesus coming to marriage us as a whore, we have changes alluded to inside the royal laws Jesus gave on Mount Sinai:-
Yasha 13:4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: (compare to )
Exodus 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Notice they are almost the same repeat of the first of the royal law commandments, but notice Yasha adds more words:
Yasha 13:4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
Yasha adds have no Yasha besides me.
Now this same YHWH wrote the messages of the OT and the NT is plainly stated in the scroll of Yasha
Yasha 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
So this Yasha-YHWH is the same being who saw Abraham and wrote the same messages in the latter rain (NT) as the former rain (OT). Thus this same Yasha-YHWH gave Abel the covenant of faith through which Abel was saved by faith in the sin-offering sacrifice of the Lamb who was a symbol of Yasha Himself.
Now let us consider what the royal law is:
Ps 119:1 ¶ ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Notice from the first of the Psalm we are blessed to walk in the law, which law is this and how do we walk in the law?
Ps 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
What, we have seen this heart thing before, so we must walk in the law through faith in the Divine Powers of GOD.
Ps 119:9 ¶ BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
What does this mean, according to thy word? Well faith comes as a power from the word, as we will soon see.
Ps 119:10 ¶ With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11 ¶ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Notice the laws still condemn you as a transgressor if you sin, but there is a higher level of sinning most people do not realize. When you come to you saviour you are always missing his divine powers flowing through your life because you break faith in His Name, so this Hebrew word “chata” means “missing”, and is often wrongly translated as “sin”.
Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin-offering. (Ancient Hebrew)
So in order to know good from bad, we needs laws, and the good we choose not to do, becomes a sin-offering because we are found missing out on choosing Divine Powers flowing through us.
Paul explains this
Ro 14:23 ...for whatsoever is not of faith is sin-offering.
(Ancient Hebrew)
Notice the law of sin-offering is not abolished when you do faith, nor is the law of transgression abolished because by missing faith you become a sinning supporter of GOD.
Notice John says
1Jo 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
So these faith commandments must abide inside the royal law, the same law that condemn humans as sinners of transgression.
1Jo 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin-offering: and there is a sin-offering not unto death.
1Jo 5:18 ¶ We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. (KJV as it reads)
Now notice the process of faith is a solution in which supporters of GOD become sinless so the wicked one cannot accuse you of sinning.
Notice the laws for transgression remain, the laws for sin-offering remain, and the laws of faith also remain for the supporter to ask.
Notice the first of the words added to by Yasha says
“I am your Yasha” Let me rescue you daily.
Notice how different this faith commandment is to the royal law commandment
Ex 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
There are TWO elohiym powers that oppose Jesus and the Father here as elohiym powers:
The first one is already touched on by John
1Jo 5:18 ¶ We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. (KJV as it reads)
John writes about this as parallel to humans, identifying both opposing elohiym powers
1Jo 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. (KJV as it reads)
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. (KJV as it reads)
8 He that committeth “sin-offering” is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (Ancient Hebrew)
Notice any human who does “sin-offerings” is of the devil, because he sins all the time, from the beginning of time.
Jesus purpose is to destroy the sinning problem by restoring how heavenly doings work throughout all eternity.
Ps 119:44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
45 ¶ And I will walk at liberty:
We have seen this word “free” or “liberty” before, under the woman of the promise we are “free” and we remain “free” forever because we are forever “keeping the law”. But was does this mean?
Ps 119:86 All thy commandments are faithful:
WOW, so the royal law has commandments of faith ?
Notice the scroll of Yasha shows us the first commandment of faith inside the royal law:
“I am your Yasha” Let me rescue you daily.
Notice how different this faith commandment is to the royal law commandment
Ex 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
When humans sinned we become a false elohiym power opposing the true elohiym powers of heaven.
So the royal law condemns anybody who becomes a false elohiym power, because your powers are nothing compared to GOD.
Your devil doings mean nothing to God.
Your human doings mean nothing to God.
So the faith commandment says simply: Let me rescue you daily.
What does this faith commandment mean : we need rescuing from even in a sinless world, where there is no sin?
Where does missing come from? From failing to ask of the Father. We choose not to ask. We choose not to do. Where is this power mentioned in Scripture?
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
21 ¶ How is the faithful city become an harlot!
Notice this passage is speaking of FAITH, of the FREE WILL that reasons, and of SIN, the result of NOT asking from GOD, powers that flow from faith.
OK how does this faith commandment process work, does YASHA explain it to us? Yes of course He does.... but if your looking for the process in the NT you will not find it, because Jesus-yasha does not repeat salvation over and over, it is already well explained in His scroll.
Yasha 14:2 Take “takings” with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the “mouth-head” of our lips.
The Hebrew word “take” also comes in the meaning of “taking” both forms of actions are implied here. Notice you take from the Father words, your words. And with your words, that are the Father words, you repent to the LORD and say or pray to Him, take away our guilt and receive us graciously that we may break forth with our “mouth-head” as a calf does, with fruits on our lips.
Notice this passage explains things simple, without using faith words, because this whole process is about faith as a process.
You speak His words, as precious promises, as faith foods, as prayer promises and receive His Divine power to do, as you have requested.
You cannot sin with this kind of doing, because Jesus is doing what you asked for inside of you, hence the Devil cannot touch you and you have no further need of “sin-offering”, and some “sin-offerings” you might do are NOT unto death because of the relationship you have to Jesus, your rescuer.
The first of the royal law commands is about rescuing you from free will to choose wrongly. To break faith. To go down the rabbit hole and become a transgressor. The Saviour rescues you from this reasoning inside your head and you begin to fight the good fight of faith, as Paul explains.
So back to Wachman Nee, what is the faith commandment promise of Sabbath?
Ex 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Here are two Hebrew words side by side, one is "shabath” meaning to “cease” and the other is "naphash” meaning to “energize” or “refreshed”.
This second word “naphash” comes into two forms of meaning, that must be the same basic idea. The noun form is translated as “soul” and the verb form as “refreshed”. But such different meanings cannot be.
Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
One form is written as "nashamah chay” (Gen 2:7) and another form is written as "nashamah ruwach chay” (Gen 7:22). The word “nashamah” refers to “breathing of air” and is a physical property of “wind” moving in and out of the body. The other word “ruwach” refers to “medium” the meaning of “something carrying something” and refers to the function of the Holy Spirit, where the Powers of the Father are carried through the medium. The grand medium is also administrated by a co-eternal member of Elohiym power can be read from this poetry parallel here:
Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
The word under “Almighty” is Shadday, a third member of Elohiym power, which expresses feminine love or responder love.
So this means living is caused by the very presence of GOD partnered to us, so that mankind BECOMES a living soul. Now this word “soul” does not match it’s verb meaning “refresh”, so one has to come up with actions that are incomplete and actions that are complete.
If all living is a function of GOD, who alone is immortal, than all the power of energy comes from GOD, who is partnered to us as the “breath of life”.
This suggests to me that the verb form “Naphash” means “energize” and the noun form of “Naphash” means “living-energy”.
So the soul is actually “living-energy” kept in this state by God partnered to us, as we live under His probation to live.
But notice the faith commandment promise concerning Sabbath Day, or “Ceasing-Day”.
Ex 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he “ceased” and was “energized”.
Why does GOD require energizing on Ceasing Day? And what would cause this energizing?
Without explaining this nature of GOD in details here, the Father is a Provider of Love and the Son is a Collector of Love, the Holy Spirit is a Responder of Love. So Love unless it is shared or responded too becomes a burning fire that consumes....So Jesus was energized with the sharing of His love to the newly created humans in Eden.
And this is the Faith Commandment of Sabbath, to energize your “living-energy” makes the Sabbath absolutely necessary for our health and well being.
Question: What happens if we do not share or energize our provider love with others who respond with responding love?
Notice this curse found in the scroll of Yasha:
Yasha 13:6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
This verse is profound and tells us something about love. Selfish love or love that is not shared becomes a selfish narcissistic burning that destroys yourself inside. Notice when the Provider of love provides for you, you are happy but than after a while you become exalted and forget your Provider. The solution to the problem is to give away your Providing love to others so they can Respond and Collect your love, and thus you maintain the attitude of always being processed by the Lord, and never sit on your lees.
Now James has a lot to speak of faith and how faith functions as a process:
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
When you ask a precious promise of GOD, do not be two faced, or double minded, or doubt that the Divine power to do will not come because you asked for this.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
As Watchmen Nee says, "The more they say that the Sabbath is important for the reason that it is a crucial commandment of the law, the more it means that we should not keep it!” I agree with this legalism.
However as I just showed readers, the Sabbath is also a faith promise to energize your living-energy as you share your provider love to others, you become a Provider, as Jesus is a Provider for you.
As the second commandment of the royal law says “Lord you are my Provider. Let me now become a Provider of your love to others through You.”
Have you ever wondered where Dorcas fits into the royal laws of love? With the second commandments of love, Be my Provider, as I provide for you.
What is the sin of failing to do this? Bowing down and worshipping the objects of your provider. Worthless objects are these. Do you love Jesus presents or His presence?
The third Commandment of faith is about speaking words in prayer or worldly fashion, that are not empty clouds, all bang and no rain. Learn to ask “Lord your words I speak, not mine” Seek the faith powers of His name, to claim words of power, as Faith is about power in the Word.
Notice a summary of the saints during the last days of time:
Re 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep “process” the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
If we make the word meaning of “keep” into “process” than we are found processing the faith commandments of GOD and the testimony of this faith of Jesus Christ.
We are not to go around sitting on our processed processing, a word meaning “lees”. The word shamar, behind “keep” has two actions, “process/ processed”. When a juice is fully processed it contains lees, or left over sludge from the processing process.
The Christian is never to remain fully processed, our faith is always onward and eternal. We are always seeking faith in Jesus and claiming the precious promises of His words and living in His powers.
This kind of faith that works comes with laws of love and His doings in us. It is easy to ask the Lord to process us, because we ask for this and we ask for His power. Let us fight the good fight of faith. Shalom
Collected Works of Watchman Nee, a Chinese preacher wrote:
Question: Someone asked, "Is it God’s commandment that we observe Sunday?" I cannot answer from the Bible. Please instruct me. (Yang, Anhwei)
Answer: Indeed, you cannot use the Bible to answer him. I am afraid that no honest Bible expositor can answer him either! I cannot find any commandment in the Bible that says we should "observe" Sunday! Please do not misunderstand by thinking that we should observe Saturday; there is no such thing either. I have not found any passage in the Bible that says that Christians should observe Saturday! What does this mean? The Sabbath day (that is, Saturday) belongs to the law. But we, the Gentiles, are not under the law. (1) Before we believed in the Lord, we were "Gentiles, who have no law" (Rom. 2:14). (2) After we believed in the Lord, the apostle said that "you are not under the law" (6:14). However, "whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law" (3:19). If those brothers who insist that we observe the Sabbath cannot prove to us that the Sabbath is not of the law, they cannot ask us to keep it. The more they say that the Sabbath is important for the reason that it is a crucial commandment of the law, the more it means that we should not keep it!
But there are those who commit the same mistake as the zealous Sabbath-keepers; they are the Sunday-observers (actually the Lord’s Day-observers). (1) They think that because the apostles met on this day, we should therefore "observe" this day. But, why did the apostles only gather on this day, whereas these ones would change it to mean they have to observe this day? (2) They think that after the Lord Jesus died, under the New Testament, the Sabbath is changed from Saturday to Sunday. But where does the Bible say this? (3) They think that the Lord’s Day is the "Christian Sabbath."
In many denominations the Ten Commandments are still held high, and the members are exhorted to keep the Sabbath faithfully. However, the Sabbath is clearly the seventh day, which is today’s Saturday. How can they swap things around and make the first day of the week (that is, our Sunday) the Sabbath day? It is no wonder that when we make the truth clear to those who are zealous for Saturday, their denominations lose many members. We do not have to go into detail on this.
All the arguments by these denominations of making Sunday the Sabbath Day have been totally refuted by the Seventh Day Adventists already. According to our study of the Bible, the Sabbath-keepers are wrong, and the Sunday-observers are also wrong. Both are wrong. The Sabbath-keepers lead Christians to a position that is fully under the law, while the Sunday-observers are leading Christians to a position that is a mixture of law and grace. Of the two, the latter is more dangerous. It is very clear to everyone that the Bible has not commanded the New Testament believers to keep the Sabbath. But where in the Bible are Christians asked to keep the Lord’s Day?
We have to say that there is not one verse in the Bible which says this. Before going on, let me first explain the meaning of the expression "observing Sunday." To observe Sunday is to stop working or doing any business on Sunday. On this day the shopkeepers should close their shops to observe the day. But may I ask those in the denominations, "Why do you observe Sunday this way? Why should believers not buy and sell on Sunday, and why should they not do what they do on the other weekdays?"
These ones would unanimously answer, "Does not the fourth commandment tell us that we should rest on this day?" Brothers, consider what a confusion this is! If you ask these ones further which day does the fourth commandment refer to, they have to say that it refers to the Sabbath day. But which day is the Sabbath day? It is Saturday. Which day are they observing? They are observing Sunday. Please note that the regulation of the fourth commandment is with regard to Saturday. But what people are observing today is Sunday. What is the reason for basing one’s observance of Sunday on a regulation that governs Saturday? Why change from Saturday to Sunday, while keeping the regulations governing Saturday? The Sunday observers cannot answer these questions. They realize that in the age of grace there is no more need to keep the Sabbath. But while they observe the Lord’s Day, they are still being bound by the Sabbath regulations. What advantage is there to change the seventh day to the first day?
This kind of behavior is mindless, meaningless, illogical, contrary to grace, contrary to the law, and unscriptural. What is the scriptural teaching concerning the keeping of days? The Bible has not commanded Christians to "observe" any day. No, absolutely none. According to the example and teaching of the Bible, on the Lord’s Day (i.e., Sunday), Christians should (1) rejoice and be glad (Psa. 118:24), (2) meet and break bread (Acts 20:7), and (3) make offerings (1 Cor. 16:2). These are the things that Christians should do. This day is the "Lord’s Day" (Rev. 1:10). Hence, we should act according to the Lord’s will. As to what should not be done, the Bible does not have a single word concerning it.
Many of the present day regulations are human traditions. If one should not buy and sell on the Lord’s Day, he should not do the same on all the other days as well. It is because men do not understand that the gospel teaches men to do everything in their daily lives for God that there are such errors. The conclusion is that Christians should not observe the Sabbath, and they should not observe Sunday. However, on the Lord’s Day (i.e., Sunday), they should rejoice and be glad, meet and break bread, and make offerings.
This question has bewildered many and has caused loss to the poor believers who would otherwise work on the Lord’s Day, but who refrain from working under the fear that they would offend the Lord. For this reason, I have said a little more on the subject. The consciences of many people are made weak through human traditions.

12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
For all perish because all have sinned:-
Ro 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
In this verse GOD “breathes” into the biological form made from organic components from the ground, the “breath of life”. This word comes in three Hebrew words, not two as it seems to be written.
James speaks of those who hear the words only. Paul speaks of those who hear the words only and using human pious powers try to do good works of the law, is something that means nothing to the Lord.
Shalom
